“What could you do better for your children and your children’s children than to record the story of your life, your triumph over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved? Some of what you write may be humdrum dates and places, but there will also be rich passages that will be quoted by your posterity.”

Eight Swan's a Swimming

People often ask, “How was it to be the youngest and only girl in the Swan family?” Answer: I loved it! How could a girl not love being, as my Mom would put it, “The rose among the thorns”? Having five handsome brothers was so much fun. I grew up loving sports and always having cute boys around! The best thing about growing up a Swan was the crazy times we had as children. My most memorable experience was when my parents went on a date and left George, Dave, Phil, Paul and myself home on a cold winter night. We thought it would be fun to run around the block in bare feet, I was about 5 years old. My brothers obviously were a lot faster than me, luckily my brother Paul came looking for me after I was a “No show” for 10 minutes or so (seemed like 10 hours), my feet were frozen but I did make it home with the help of Paul!  The stories go on and on, it seems that the stories get better with time!  Growing up a Swan was quite the adventure!
